I rode as a young girl in Ottawa, in the 60's at Greenbelt Riding Park, under the 'Spanish Riding School of Vienna' educated eye of Mr. Erick Kahrer. It was much later that I realized just how fortunate; for he put all his riders of his Musical Ride on the lunge line, bareback saddle without stirrups and the horse on sidereins. This is the beginning of my fascination with the proud, expressive and happy connection the horse can have with a rider. It pleased my artistic senses.

I graduated from the Ontario College of Art ( OCAD ) Toronto in '69 and bought my first Horse.  She was as close in body shape to the Lippazanner as I could find and I started lessons with Ed Rothcrantz of Queensville On.

Then I did 5 years ( and three horses ) with John McPherson who guided my showing/learning up to Elementary ( Second Level ) and encouraged clinics with visiting pros from Europe, USA  & Can. My highlight was being a member of the Basic Quadrille Champion National Team. And being awarded two 9's in a Freestyle to " Don't Marry No Gal In Britches"  which I dedicated to my long suffering husband 😀

From 1984 to 2012 my education has been guided by the talented and generous guidance Gary Vander Ploeg. Five horses, three in competition, two awwsome school masters. Good years!

Got my judge card mid 80's, upgraded to M Level 2008. I enjoy the travel to different provinces and a few times to the States. Keeping it fresh and up to date with clinics; taking on Arab Dressage, Western Style Dressage and just this year, Carriage Driving Dressage has been satisfyingly challenging.

Being Head Groom for the Canadian Dressage Team in Stockholm, Sweden  for the 1990 WEG was a thrilling experience. Thank you Jean, Gary and Aramis♡

The older I get, the more I value the journey over the end goal.
